Explore Thanet's 15 beautiful sandy beaches

Thanet's 15 sandy beaches and bays stretch from Pegwell Bay in the south to Minnis Bay in the north. Long famous for their beauty, this year they've notched up more Blue Flag awards than any other area in the country: seven Blue Flags plus three Seaside Awards
Notorious 18th century smuggler Joss Snelling was named after Joss Bay whilst beautiful Botany Bay was a contraband hot-spot and at Pegwell Bay discover the Hugin, a replica of an invading Viking ship. All over the Isle, experts are itching to teach you how to surf, jet-ski, and sail.

Margate itself has been a leading resort for 200 years or more offering all the fun and charm of the seaside. At dusk – and dawn if you are an early riser – you will see some of the most beautiful and unspoilt skies over the coast. The iconic artist JMW Turner was a true fan of the picturesque sun rises and falls, depicting them as “...the loveliest in all Europe."
